Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png This page is to collect any and all Easter eggs found throughout the Kingdom Hearts series. For our purposes, Easter Eggs are be defined as items or references in the games that intentionally allude towards other subjects, characters, or people in or outside the series.

Recurring[edit source]

  • The number 13, which regularly references Organization XIII or Roxas
    • COM: There are thirteen floors in Castle Oblivion
    • COM: A combined card value of thirteen or more is required to enter the final room in Castle Oblivion.
    • KHII: Riku's Session limit has an attack called XIII Blades
    • KHII: Roxas's shorts have the roman numeral XIII (13) on the skull.
    • KHII: In the first confrontation, Seifer must be hit thirteen times to defeat him.
    • KHII: Thirteen Orichalcum+ are required to synthesize the Ultima Weapon.
    • KHIIFM: There are thirteen members of Mushroom XIII
    • 358: Luxord's joke weapon is a deck of cards named Finest Fantasy 13
    • BBS: There are thirteen matches in the Mirage Arena
    • CODE: There are thirteen System Sectors, one of which contains thirteen floors.
    • KH3D: Sora is "Combatant thirteen" when he faces Rinzler in The Grid
    • KH3D: There are thirteen training toy candies.
    • KH3D: The χ-blade is said to have been shattered into twenty pieces, thirteen of those being of darkness.
  • The Final Fantasy series.
    • KH: There's a cave drawing of a Chocobo in the Secret Place
    • KH: Sora and Riku's suggestions for the raft names (Excalibur and Highwind respectively) are references to weapons of the same name in the Final Fantasy series.
    • KH: Ultima Weapon is a weapon in the Final Fantasy series.
    • KH: Save the Queen is a weapon in the Final Fantasy series.
    • KH: Sora's poses when completing matches in Olympus Coliseum resemble Cloud's and Leon's victory poses from Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII respectively.
    • KH: In Ariel's Grotto in Atlantica, a spinning doll plays a song resembling the tune of "Who am I?" from Final Fantasy VII.
    • KHII: The Twilight Town Disciplinary Committee is a reference to the Disciplinary committee headed by Seifer in Final Fantasy VIII.
    • KHII: Rai's sweatpants have the number 8 on them, a reference to Final Fantasy VIII, where Rai originates from.
    • KHII: The shop owners in Twilight Town and Radiant Garden are references to characters in Final Fantasy X (Wantz) and Final Fantasy VII (Wallace, Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge).
    • KHII: The Fenrir keychain is a reference to Cloud's motorcycle of the same name in Final Fantasy VII.
    • KHII: The Assassin, Sniper, Dragoon, Gambler, Dancer, Berserker, Samurai, and Sorcerer Nobodies are named after job classes in the Final Fantasy series.
    • 358: Luxord's joke weapon is a deck of cards named Finest Fantasy 13.
    • KHIII: When Sora assembles the blocks in Toy Box to reach the dark corridor above the Kid Korral, the blocks form the shape of a Cactuar. The iconic "Victory Fanfare" plays when the blocks are assembled.
    • KHIII: In Toy Box, a display in Action Figures in Galaxy Toys features figurines based on characters from Dissidia NT Final Fantasy, a reference to the video game of the same name.
    • KHIII: Sora's ship, the Leviathan, is a reference to the sea serpent of the same name in the Final Fantasy series.
    • KHIIIRM: Parts of "I've Been Having These Weird Thoughts Lately" and "Like, Is Any of This for Real or Not?" resemble the opening of the 2011 trailer for the scrapped title Final Fantasy Versus XIII, with "Like, Is Any of This for Real or Not?" including a near shot-for-shot recreation of the opening of the trailer. Series director Tetsuya Nomura was originally director for Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Kingdom Hearts[edit source]

  • Sora's outfit and color scheme is a reference to Mickey Mouse's classic design.
  • The world exit in Traverse Town has a sign above it with a Hidden Mickey.
  • A poster in the Item Shop in the First District for a "river boat" is a reference to Disney's 1928 short "Timeless River"
  • The fountain in the Third District has a statue referencing Disney's Lady and the Tramp.
  • The back alley section of the First District where Sora awakens has a poster for a pirate ship that looks similar to Captain Hook's Jolly Roger pirate ship.
  • An owl emblem can be found on the broken archway outside Merlin's House in Traverse Town, a reference to Merlin's pet owl Archimedes from The Sword in The Stone
  • A tea set in The Camp in Deep Jungle resembles Mrs. Potts and the other china from Beauty and the Beast, a reference originally found in Tarzan.
  • The volcanic crater area in End of the World has references to scenes and characters from Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

  • There are Hidden Mickey symbols in 23 of the 24 Command Menu designs in Kingdom Hearts II.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears as a window in one of the buildings in the Twilight Town Command menu
    • A Hidden Mickey appears in the Triangle Reaction Command in the Twilight Town Command Menu when visiting Yen Sid's Tower.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears in each item in the party select menu when using items from the Item Menu in the Old Mansion in Twilight Town.
    • A Hidden Mickey silhouette fades out of the word "Forms" when accessing the Drive Form menu in Naminé's room in Twilight Town.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears in the highlighted Summon command when accessing the Summons Menu in the Computer Room in Twilight Town.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears in the center of one of the gears behind the commands in the Hollow Bastion Command Menu. It's only visible when accessing shortcuts by holding down L1, which removes the commands from obstructing it.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears in the highlighted Magic spell in the Land of Dragons Command Menu.
    • Hidden Mickeys replace the rose petals that appear and fade out when highlighting party members in the party select menu and when using items from the Item Menu from the Beast's Castle Command Menu.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears in front of the gladiator statues that adorn the Olympus Coliseum Command Menu when pressing L1 to show the shortcut menu.
    • Hidden Mickeys rise as the fog rising behind the Olympus Coliseum Command Menu in the Underworld.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears in the Reaction Command in the Timeless River Command Menu.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears as a bubble rising on the left hand side of the Atlantica Command Menu.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears burned into the tattered map pieces that make up the Command Menu in Port Royal. It's only visible in the Items menu, on each individual item.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears behind the commands in the Agrabah Command Menu. It's only visible when holding down L1, which removes the commands from obstructing it, and is next to the third magic command.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears as a yellow light that lights up periodically on the Halloween Town Command Menu during battles with enemies.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears as a gingerbread cookie on the Party Menu in the Christmas Town Command Menu in Halloween Town.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears as a silhouette rotating around the Pride Lands Command Menu, along with the silhouettes for Pride Rock and several trees and rock formations.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears in the blue balloon when accessing the Limits menu in the Hundred Acre Wood Command Menu.
    • A Hidden Mickey silhouette fades out near the final "s" in the word "Summons" when accessing the Summons menu in the Space Paranoids Command Menu.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears at the top center of the party select menu when using items from the Item Menu in the Garden of Assemblage Command Menu in Hollow Bastion.
    • A Hidden Mickey appears in the Items Menu of the Data Organization Battle Command Menu in Hollow Bastion

  • Pence's shirt in Twilight Town is a reference to Dog Street from Square Enix's The Bouncer.
  • In The White Room in Twilight Town, Naminé's drawings of locations are all references to locations where Kairi is seen physically in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II.
  • An owl emblem can be found wall above the door to Merlin's House in Radiant Garden, a reference to Merlin's pet owl Archimedes from The Sword in The Stone
  • The paintings in Beast's Castle resemble the background of several scenes in the Disney animated film Beauty and the Beast.
  • The topiary sculptures in the Courtyard in Disney Castle resemble the band players from Walt Disney's 1935 Mickey Mouse cartoon The Band Concert.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days[edit source]

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep[edit source]

  • Master Eraqus's name is a reference to Square Enix. His name is "Square", spelled backwards.
  • The English voice actors for Master Eraqus and Master Xehanort, Mark Hamill and Leonard Nimoy, were chosen as references to their roles in Star Wars and Star Trek respectively, and the pop culture competition between the two franchises.
  • HD2.5: A book in Ventus's room is labeled "Ultimania", a reference to the Kingdom Hearts series' various Japanese guide books.

  • The graffiti in the fourth district is a reference to CAT, a company in The World Ends With You.

  • The terminals leading to each of the "games" in Game Central Station are branded "Moore USA", a brand carried over from the 2012 Disney Animated film Wreck-It Ralph, and a reference to the movie's director, Rich Moore.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit source]

  • An previous version of the official Kingdom Hearts III website featured a Kingdom Hearts III logo Easter egg made up of HTML code, hidden in the site's source code.
  • The gummiphone's ringtone is a chiptune mix of Sora's theme song, "Sora"
  • The attraction attacks are references to real rides at the Disneyland and Disney World resorts:
    • Mad Tea Cups is a reference to the Mad Tea Party ride
    • Pirate Ship is a reference to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
    • Splash Run is a reference to the Grizzly River Run and Kali River Rapids rides
    • Blaster Blaze is a reference to Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
    • Magic Carousel is a reference to the King Arthur Carrousel at the Disneyland Resort.
    • Big Magic Mountain is a reference to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride.
  • In Olympus, striking the heel of a statue in The Gardens causes the statue to fall, a reference to the Trojan War hero Achilles of Greek mythology.
  • The walls of several buildings in Olympus feature an engraving of the five muses, a reference to the characters from Hercules.
  • John Ratzenberger, considered Pixar's lucky charm, having voiced a character in every Pixar film to date, returns to voice Hamm.
  • The Luxo Jr. ball from Pixar Animation Studio's 1986 computer-animated short film "Luxo Jr." appears in Andy's room.
  • Andy's bookshelf has books titled Tin Toy, Knick Knack, and Red's Dream, references to Pixar Animated Studio's computer-animated short films of the same name.
  • A Pizza Planet truck can be seen in the parking lot outside Galaxy Toys, in a photo on a bulletin board on the Scare Floor in Monstropolis, and on a sticker on a cupboard in the kitchen of Le Grand Bistrot in Twilight Town. The truck is a reference to Toy Story, and has appeared in every Pixar animated film to date.
  • The yard sale sign from Toy Story 2 can be found behind Andy's House.
  • In Toy Box, a sticky note in Andy's Room has a doodle of Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc.. Mike is largely cut off from the doodle, a reference to a running gag in Monsters, Inc. where Mike is regularly blocked or cut off from images featuring them both.
  • The number "A113" can be found on the license plate of a car parked across the street from Andy's House and on a street sign in the Kid Korral in Toy Box, a garage door in Monstropolis, and a tin can in Le Grand Bistrot in Twilight Town. A113 is a recurring Easter egg in Pixar films, and is a reference to a computer graphics and animation classroom at the California Institute of the Arts
  • In Monstropolis, a flyer outside Roz's office lists ten ways to get fired, with numbers 1 and 10 stating "Forgetting to file paperwork", a reference to the scenes in Monster's, Inc. when Mike would forget to file his paperwork.
  • A Schwartzgeist gummi battle can be found in the Misty Stream. The Schwartzgeist is a reference to the SS-01 SchwarzGheist from the 1997 Square title Einhänder, and a reference to the development team of the same game, which developed the gummi ship system in Kingdom Hearts III. A remix of "Thermosphere" from Einhänder can be heard during the battle.
  • Each of the Classic Kingdom minigames are based on 1920s and 1930s Mickey Mouse cartoons.
  • The Ultima Weapon features a blade similar in shape to the roman numeral III on the Kingdom Hearts III logo.
  • The shotlock for Classic Tone features the windows of time from Kingdom Hearts II's Timeless River.

Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind[edit source]

  • The Secret Episode cutscenes "I've Been Having These Weird Thoughts Lately" and "Like, Is Any of This for Real or Not?", named for the line spoken by both Sora and Yozora in both scenes, is a reference to the opening lines in "Opening" in Kingdom Hearts.
