The Wayfinder Project

From Kingdom Hearts Database

The Wayfinder Project is a cutscene directory project created and organized by Regular Pat. It is a tool for Kingdom Hearts content creation, with the aim of helping members of the Kingdom Hearts community in searching for and reusing footage from the series. The directory is hosted on a Google Sheet, while the playlists are currently hosted on the Kingdom Hearts Database's YouTube channel, with a large portion of the cutscenes hosted on the same channel.

The project was created throughout 2021, with an official release announced on September 5, 2021.

The Wayfinder Project consists of two parts. The first part is a cutscene directory that lists every cutscene in the currently accessible titles in the Kingdom Hearts series. Each cutscene has a link to a YouTube video for that cutscene, along with information on the world the cutscene takes place in, the characters that appear in the cutscene, the areas scene in the cutscene, the script from that cutscene. and the songs that are heard in the cutscene. Some cutscenes have additional notes that the cutscene may be more recognizable with, such as a well-known quote or moment.

The second part consists of playlists and videos that are linked to from the cutscene directory. All the playlists are currently located on the Kingdom Hearts Database's YouTube channel, which Regular Pat created and organized. A large part of the cutscenes were also uploaded by Regular Pat to the Kingdom Hearts Database YouTube channel, while others are hosted on other channels such as appsplusgameplay and KHInsider.

Regular Pat first publicly announced and on August 19, 2021.[1] It was first completed on September 5, 2021, and featured all the cutscenes from all the console titles from Kingdom Hearts Final Mix to Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory.[2]

On January 21, 2022, cutscenes for the defunct web browser title Kingdom Hearts χ were added, with links to the scenes from the Kingdom Hearts Insider YouTube channel.[3]

On April 23, 2022, cutscenes for the mobile titles Kingdom Hearts Union χ and Kingdom Hearts Dark Road were added to the Wayfinder Project.[4]

On October 19, 2022, The Wayfinder Project version 2.0 was launched with it's own domain. This new version includes scripts for every scene, as well as filter options, and a search bar.[5]
