The Kingdom Hearts series has officially launched on Steam, bringing the series to an additional PC market and opening the door for more players to access the game on the platform of their choice. The Steam release of the series marks the series' availability in every modern gaming platform, albeit only via cloud streaming for the Nintendo Switch.

The series was announced for Switch on May 20, 2024. Today's release includes Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC). All three titles will be available as a single package as well, called Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece. There is no word on whether or when Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory will be releasing on Steam.

The Steam release of the series brings with it graphical updates to the titles, which seems to include updates to textures used in some of the older titles. Additionally, a Steam-exclusive reskin of King Mickey's Star Cluster Keyblade, called Dead of Night, will be available for those purchasing Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC). Additionally, Square Enix will be livestreaming a preview of the series' Steam release beginning at 12 PM PST/3 PM EST, three hours of the series' release, which will include a giveaway of the Integrum Masterpiece package.

Additionally, during last weekend's Summer Games Fest, some players reported being able to play the series on the Valve's Steam Deck, the popular PC gaming handheld, suggesting that the series may be officially supported on the Steam Deck as well.

Just before the release of the series on Steam, Square Enix announced an online giveaway that includes a Steam Deck OLED signed by series director Tetsuya Nomura, the Steam release of the Kingdom Hearts series, a HiGround keyboard, and various Kingdom Hearts merchandise items. Entry to this sweepstakes is available at

The release of the series on Steam is an exciting development as the series continues to become more accessible for ever more players. Let us know if you'll be purchasing the Steam version of the series!
