The player appears floating above a Dive to the Heart station.

Pieces of King Mickey, Donald, and Goofy appear before the player.

???: Which fragment will you connect with?

Cutscene 4[edit source]

Keyblades fall to the ground blade first.

???: "Keyblades—the power to connect hearts."

A Keyblade appears in the air in front of the player.

???: "That power remembers you still—"

The Keyblade materializes and the players grabs hold. Heartless appear behind the player. The player turns around and prepares to fight.

Cutscene 5[edit source]

The player notices his Keyblade is now old and rusty and is amazed.

???: Don't worry. It may be old and rusty and have lost its shine, but its power will come through for you.

A door appears behind the player.

???: Now, unlock the door—to the world of light beyond the darkness.

The player approaches the door and uses the Keyblade to unlock it. The door opens and light begins to emit from it.

Cutscene 6[edit source]

A person in red approaches a sea shore. He notices a Keyblade on the ground and picks it up, swings it, then looks at it. The player is seen on the ground nearby, unconscious.

???: And so the curtains rise and the story begins—the story of the blank era, one that will eventually be forgotten.

???: Hey, buddy. You all right?

The player wakes up and gets up.

???: Good, you're awake.

The player looks down at his empty hand before being shaken by the person in red.

???: Hey!

Player: ...

???: Okay, so you can hear me! I was worried you were never gonna wake up. You decide to slack off and take a nap?

The player looks at the Keyblade the person in red picked up and still has in his hand.

Player: ...

???: This? It's a Keyblade—they're pretty common. Oh, I get it. You're not a Keyblade wielder, I'm guessing. Name's Remus. A distortion showed up around here, so I'm on patrol.

The player looks around Remus towards a pile of stuff on the ground behind him. Remus looks behind to see the pile the player is looking at.

Remus: Picked up a few trinkets while I was at it. Valuable stuff drifts on shore sometimes... Anyway, that's not important. Like I said, there should be a distortion around here, and where there's distortions, there's usually Heartless or drift—

The player reaches out towards the Keyblade in Remus's hand.

Remus: Whoa, quit with the grabby hands!

A shaking occurs.

Remus: !?

A corridor of darkness appears in the air above the player and Remus, and a Darkside Heartless jumps from inside onto the ground behind them.

Remus: You gotta be kidding me!

Remus turns around towards the player.

Remus: Run!

The Darkside Heartless swings its hand towards Remus, striking him and throwing him across the way. Remus loses the Keyblade, and it goes flying, landing in front of the player. Remus begins to get up.

Remus: Don't be a hero—you gotta get outta here!

The player suddenly collapses.

Remus: !? Hey!

The player falls on his hands and knees and reaches out towards the Keyblade.

Player: Keyblade...

The player grabs hold of the Keyblade.

Remus: That's just a rusted old piece of junk. It's not gonna do you any—

Player: !

Player: !!!

The player gets up and holds the Keyblade, ready for battle.

Remus: Huh!? So you do know how to wield a Keyblade!

Remus summons his own Keyblade.

Remus: Well, whatever! Gimme a hand, will ya?

Defeat the Darkside!

Cutscene 7[edit source]

Remus catches his breath after defeating the Darkside. The dark portal closes. Remus looks towards the player. He dematerializes his Keyblade.

Remus: I gotta say, you really know how to hold your own. Wielding that rusty piece of junk, no less... Hey, which society do you belong to?

The player shakes his head.

Remus: You don't know. Then you're...a drifter? But that wouldn't explain those Keyblade skills of yours... Hm? Or would it? No, you can't be, otherwise the founders would be here. And the clothes you have... Uh... Well, do you know where you are now?

The player shakes his head.

Remus:...What do you know?

The player looks at the Keyblade, then holds it up.

Player: How to fight with a Keyblade... That's it.

Remus: Hey, you spoke! What's your name?

Player: ...

Remus: That's great... You don't even know your name. Well, it's likely you're a member of a society and you lost your memories during a mission. ...Just my luck. Instead of finding an invaluable treasure out here, I find someone who can't remember a thing. What a drag... But whatever. A strange Keyblade wielder with no memories... Maybe the Operations Master can find out where you belong.

Player: Is that...like a Keyblade Master?

Remus: Yeah, one who's mastered their path. Years ago, Keyblade Masters were the ones in charge, but there weren't enough of them to go around as more and more societies were formed. So the head of each society was given the role of Operations Master. Come on, I'll take you to mine for now. You know, it'd make things easier if you had a name. It doesn't have to be fancy, just pick something.

Remus: That's a pretty cool name. Okay, the city center's that way. Follow me.

The logo for Scala ad Caelum appears.

Loading Screens[edit source]

  • Keyblades: Weapons of legend shaped like keys that have the power to operate any lock in existence and defeat creatures of darkness. Keyblades can only be wielded by chosen individuals who are strong of heart, and their powers are unleashed when they connect with the strength of those wielders' hearts.

Cutscene 9[edit source]

???: A drifter, you washed ashore in Scala ad Caelum. There, you met a young man named Remus and were taken in by his society. The next morning, you head out to meet the society's navigator, Freya, to embark on your first mission as a Keyblade wielder.

The player walks up to Freya.

Freya: This is the dive station where you'll find corridors from the city to the astral plane. People used to ride lifts to get around, but now they're just here as a sort of monument.

The player looks at Freya, confused.

Freya: How can I put this... In essence, the astral plane is a world made up of mental energies. It may look real, but it's a strange world where no one lives and about which we know little. It's connected to our own world via corridors we call distortions. The astral plane is also where the Heartless—those heart-stealing monsters—come from. This is simply speculation, but it's believed that they come here because there aren't any hearts for them to steal over there. The societies' Keyblade wielders travel to the astral plane to defeat the Heartless and prevent them from sneaking into our world. But though that may be the main purpose, they must also collect items called "pieces." Pieces are fragments of memories from other worlds. They can awaken different abilities in you, so find some pieces and give them a whirl.

The player nods in agreement.

Freya: Once you're ready, let's get you out there!

Cutscene 10[edit source]

The player approaches the gate, and a magic force field disappears. The gate opens.

The player approaches the edge of a platform, and a light emits from a portal in a pit. The player is lifted up by the force of the portal, then dives in.

Guides[edit source]

Moving Around: Swipe the screen to move.

Camera Controls: Drag the camera button around to change your view on the action.

Accessing Objects: Approach objects with icons, and tap them or use the button in the bottom right to take a closer look.

Select a piece: Select 1 of the 3 pieces.

Tapping to Fight: Tap the button to attack and piece icons to unleash powerful abilities.

Auto Battle: Tap the Auto button to switch to auto battle. Attacks and abilities will be used automatically.

Menu: From the menu, you can access Equip/Enhance/Items, Community, Battles, Other, Shop, Draws, and Treasure Chests.

Pieces 'Round the World: There are pieces with special powers scattered all over the world.

The Power of Pieces: Each piece you obtain will help you grow stronger.

Equipping Pieces: Equipping pieces allows you to unleash powerful abilities.

Draws: Use Jewels to obtain pieces.

Equipment Sets: Build different equipment sets to prepare for any battle.

Reviewing Details: Tap and hold a piece or accessory icon to see more details.

Changing Clothes: You can change your avatar's appearance.

Caution: Please take precautions with your location data when uploading clips or images of the game to SNS or other forms of media. For more information, go to Options -> Location Data Privacy Reminder.

Setting Out: Take your smartphone with you on a walk outside. Your avatar will move around in the astral plene based on your location data.

Collecting Pieces: Treasure posts and piece posts may grant pieces. Duplicate pieces will strengthen the ones you already have.

Touch Mode: You can swap to touch mode with the button on the lower left to move about freely.

AP: In touch mode, you need AP to access posts or battle enemies. You can get more AP by playing in GPS mode.

Checking the Growth Log: The growth log is an important feature for Keyblade wielders to carry out their missions. Complete objectives to enhance your powers.

Viewing Objectives: You can view the objectives needed to enhance your powers. Once you've completed an objective, tap "Reflect All" to grow stronger.

Astral Plane ⇔ Town: Tap the button at the bottom of the screen to travel between the astral plane and town.

Terms[edit source]

  • Astral plane: The name of the space based on the real world, where all the Heartless are located. According to the cutscenes, there are no people in the Astral Plane, but the Heartless seem to come from there to Scala ad Caelum.
  • Distortion: the corridor between Scala ad Caelum and the Astral Plane
  • Pieces: fragments of memories from other worlds. In Missing-Link, they take the form of statuettes of other Kingdom Hearts characters.
