"A Fairy Tale?" is one of two additional cutscenes added to Kingdom Hearts Re:coded in Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX. It bridges events from the game to Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.

Having escaped from the datascape through a "rift in the data", Maleficent reveals to Pete that the datascape reminds her of the ancient Book of Prophecies. According to legend, the book has the power to tell the future, as well as conjure worlds and powers of beings yet to exist. Though Pete is initially convinced, he is skeptical of the book's ability to create worlds, though Maleficent reminds him that the journal King Mickey and the others had digitized and entered had done much the same thing. Believing there is a connection between Jiminy's Journal and the Book of Prophecies, Maleficent and Pete begin to plan how to take the journal.
