Opening

From Kingdom Hearts Database

"Opening" is the opening cutscene in the high-definition remake of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

Story[edit | edit source]

Saïx is heard explaining the Organization's plans as the members of the Organization are shown. Axel and Roxas are then seen discussing their lack of hearts at the clock tower in Twilight Town. Finally, Axel and Roxas are seen eating ice cream at the clock tower and watching the sun set as Axel reminisces the first time he took Roxas up there.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Saïx: "Pitiful Heartless, mindlessly collecting hearts. The rage of the Keyblade releases those hearts. They gather in darkness, masterless and free...until they weave together to make Kingdom Hearts. And when that time comes, we can truly, finally exist."

--- Axel and Roxas watch the sun set.

Axel: "Roxas...are you really sure that you don't have a heart?"

Roxas: "I dunno. I can't...just look inside. But I figure... if there is something in there...inside us—then we'd feel it, wouldn't we?"

Axel: "True enough."

Xemnas and Roxas stand outside the Old Mansion.

Xemnas: "You seek answers."

Xemnas summons the word "SORA" in the air in front of Roxas.

Xemnas: "You feel nothing. Nothing is real. I can give you purpose."

Xemnas causes the letters to swirl around Roxas for a moment before stopping them, now with an "X" in the middle.

Roxas: "Roxas."

Xemnas: "That is right—the new you."

Axel and Roxas sit at the clock tower and watch the sun set.

Axel: "Man, I miss the old times. Still got it memorized? The day we met, when you got your new name, you and I sat right here, just like this, and watched the sun set."
