- Updates 1.04 and 1.05 are set to release April 23
- Critical Mode to release as part of update 1.04
It's been almost three months since the worldwide release of Kingdom Hearts III, and since that time, we've been expecting the release of downloadable content for the game, including the highly-popular Critical Mode. Yesterday, we finally heard news on the launch.
Series director Tetsuya Nomura took to the series's official Twitter to announce that Critical Mode would release for the game today! Nomura also teased that it would be different from the past, though how exactly is not clear. However, Nomura has previously said that they want Critical Mode to be challenging, but enjoyable as well[1]
In addition to Critical Mode, we now have leared from the official Japanese Square Enix website that there will actually be two updates to the game. The updates will deliver several improvements, including enemy behavior adjustments, better tracking of synthesized items in the Moogle Shop, and increasing the number of available slots in the Gummiphone's photo album to 200. Below is the full change list.
We will deliver a new game mode "Critical Mode" on April 24, 2019 (Wednesday).
In addition, the following updates will be made.

About the contents of 1.04
- Critical Mode has been added to the game mode, and new abilities can be used.
- Adjusted the behavior of some enemies
- Addition to Frozen Slider: Treasures can now be checked from the results screen and the Gummiphone
- We added messages such as game help
- Fixed various problems
When this version is installed, new save data is created.
About the contents in 1.05
- When starting a new game with "New Game", it's possible to transfer Keyblades from your cleared data.
- We changed photo processing, it's now possible to save 200 pictures.
