Welp, it's 2020, it's a brand new year, and that means it's time to look at our plans for this year on the Kingdom Hearts Database.
First, I want to thank all of you who have been supporting us this last year. I've had a ton of fun, and I'm humbled by all the support we've had from so many people, whether it's been those who edit, those who share our tweets and tumblr posts, or simply those who visit the site. THANK YOU!
As the year was wrapping up, I thought for a while about what we could do to stand out as we work towards becoming the best source for Kingdom Hearts news and information. You've seen many improvements by now, that were rolled out yesterday, designed to make the site more simple and appealing. To sum up the changes:
I want to hear your thoughts on these updates, as well as our goals and plans for the upcoming year. As always, we build our site together, so I want to make sure everyone is heard before we go forward.
I'm excited for this new year, I can feel it'll be a good one for us, and I hope you all can feel that, too!
Goals for 2020[edit source]
We want the Kingdom Hearts Database to be a place people can turn to for answers to questions about the Kingdom Hearts series, its characters, story, and gameplay. A place where people can find a passionate community for this series. A place that people will want to be a part of by contributing. Many of the changes and updates highlighted above have that goal in mind, to make it easier to visit, join, and contribute to the Database. Our goals for this year run along that same vein:
Complete coverage of Kingdom Hearts III[edit source]
We will continue to focus on Kingdom Hearts III as the primary title on the Database, particularly with Re Mind coming up soon. Particularly, we'll want to focus on completing character articles, world articles, abilities, transcript pages, and the walkthrough. I'm particularly proud and excited of our discussion in shaping the Olympus article and walkthrough, and hope we will continue that kind of discussion with other pages.
Recruit editors[edit source]
We're still relatively new and there's still much to do, so we'll need additional editors to help us. I'd particularly like more people that can help with covering the news, since Chaineh and I are often at work when news drops during the day, and asleep when it drops at night. Additional people will help lighten our Database load and the news coverage load.
Continue projects from last year[edit source]
We will continue our projects from last year for coverage, and allow people to join them and work on them as they see fit or are willing to do so. However, unlike last year, I don't expect us to finish all of those projects. It's simply too much if we continue to be a four-person team, and I don't want to add undue pressure on anyone.
As I mentioned, we're still relatively new, even as we approach our second anniversary, so we need to promote our site as much as possible. Something we previously talked about and haven't kept up was promoting achievements or projects we accomplished on our social media accounts; I'd like to pick that up again to show off what we do now.
I want to hear everyone's thoughts on these goals and plans. If we need to refine them, or strike some, or redo the whole thing, I want to hear it, because above all, I want us all on the same page, pulling together to make the Kingdom Hearts Database the best source for Kingdom Hearts news and information.
