Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX is a compilation re-release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX. It features a total of six titles from the Kingdom Hearts series, and marks their first release on eighth-generation consoles.

The title is composed of the first six major titles in the Kingdom Hearts series, namely the high-definition re-releases of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days cinematic cutscenes, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded cinematic cutscenes.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX was announced on October 17, 2016. It released on the PlayStation 4 on March 9, 2017 in Japan, with subsequent releases worldwide that month. It was subsequently re-released on Xbox One in 2020 and PC via the Epic Games Store in 2021. A cloud version was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2022 as Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX Cloud Version.

The title was bundled and re-released with Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue as part of Kingdom Hearts -The Story So Far- for the PlayStation 4 on October 30, 2018.

Changes[edit | edit source]

  • All six titles from the original releases, originally on two separate discs, are now on one single disc.
  • All six titles run at 60 frames per second.
  • A new main menu featuring all six titles, both sets of credits for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, and the downloadable PS4 themes for each title is now available.
  • A "Streaming Restrictions" message was added to the main menu.
  • The trophies for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded have been removed.
  • A theater mode was added to Kingdom Hearts Final Mix with the 1.03 update.
  • An extended version of "Day 357: Tears" was added to Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days with the 1.03 update.

Xbox One version[edit | edit source]

  • The Disney Interactive Studios logo in the opening credits sequence was replaced with the Disney logo.
  • A cutscene skip has been added to the opening of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix.
  • The save file selection menu user interface in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix has been replaced with one similar to Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix.
  • The "Streaming Restrictions" message is now called "Before You Stream..."
  • The "Extras" menu has been replaced with a "Screen Options" menu, which allows adjusting the screen.

Epic Games version[edit | edit source]

  • A new "Game Options" menu can be accessed by pressing ESC.

Development and Release[edit | edit source]

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX was released in Japan on 9, 2017, for the PlayStation 4. It was released in North America on March 28, 2017, and in Europe and Australia on March 31, 2017.

On November 14, 2019, series executive producer Ichiro Hazama announced that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX would be releasing on the Xbox One along with Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, marking the first time the series would be available in its entirety on an Xbox console.[1] The title released on the Xbox One on February 18, 2020.

On February 11, 2021, Square Enix and Epic Games announced that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX would be available along with the rest of the series on personal computers through the Epic Games Store.[2] The game released on the Epic Games Store on March 30, 2021, marking the first time the series was made available on PCs.[3]

On October 5, 2021, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate creator and director Masahiro Sakurai announced that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX would be arriving on the Nintendo Switch with the rest of the series. Square Enix and Disney announced that title would be a cloud version, titled Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX Cloud Version.[4] The title released on February 10, 2022 worldwide.[5]
